Greetings,

I trust you all had a wonderful holiday season and are enjoying a renewed sense of direction and focus for the new year. 2009 was an eventful year for me with the release of Exposing Yourself and continued development on my web hosting system at WestRimHosting.com. As I have evaluated the past year I thought I would share some stats that would not be possible without you.

When I first began to write Exposing Yourself, my intentions were to help artists learn how to photograph their own paintings to achieve quality images with little to no glare, and help them save money in the process. From different artists I spoke with over the years I figured I had a pretty good idea. I sold the first copy on May 21, 2009 and since then I have had sales in 33 states and 10 foreign countries. While I'm not going to quit my day job any time soon it has been a fascinating journey.

In keeping with digital imaging I wanted to briefly address the concept of creating a master image. The master image concept is generally a file that is in a format that is not considered lossy or can be edited indefinitely without any noticeable degradation. Additionally the general idea is to completely edit the file and then create all your additional files from the master. Tiff files and PSD files both fit this criteria and are commonly used for this purpose. In the next issue I will provide a little more information on these two file types.

With this being the beginning of a new year I would also invite any of you to share your experiences as you have been using Exposing Yourself. Thank you again and I hope you have a great day.

Sincerely,
Jason
