The old cliche goes, A picture is worth a thousand words. If this is indeed true, the images above should say everything you need to know. If the photos you take of your artwork look like the image on the left. You need this guide book!
While the nature of digital photography and imaging can be largely technical and intimidating, Exposing Yourself contains the guidance you need to produce professional quality images of your artwork. Presented in a clear, straight forward manner, it presents workflows and explanations in terms you can understand not to mention lots of screenshots for reference. With a little patience and practice you will be able to see the difference almost immediately.
Jason Smith, the author, has almost 14 years of real world artwork photography experience in two reputable, high end galleries. During his time in the galleries he had the opportunity to photograph works by historical artists such as Maurice Braun, W. T. Richards, Edouard Cortes, Joseph Sharp, and Porfirio Salinas plus a large number of the top representational painters alive today. Among them are David Leffel, Daniel Greene, Mian Situ, Kathryn Stats, Kevin Macpherson, and C.W. Mundy to name a few.
The techniques outlined in Exposing Yourself were used to produce images that have appeared in many fine art periodicals in advertisement and editorial content as well. Some of these include Southwest Art, American Art Review, FineArtConnoisseur, and American Art Collector. Additionally, Jason used the techniques to produce a number of giclee print reproductions, which are also outlined in the guide.
